| "Angela Verdenius takes great care and pays detailed attention to her world building but in a way that it does not interfere with the characters or the relationship of the hero and heroine. I love futuristics and the joy of immersing myself into a new and fascinating new world. This book literally transported me into a different place and made me wish I was there! | This time there was a soft moan. He froze. No doubt about it, that moan came from—he glanced over to the door in the side of the room. A whisper of sound and then a sigh. Someone was hiding in the bathroom. His first thought was that it could very well be a tavern wench who’d been smacked around a bit by an overzealous patron, and one thing a Daamen hated was to see a wench hurt. “Hello?” He started across the room. “Is there someone in there?” Silence met this and he frowned. Mayhap ’twasn’t a wench. Someone else? A wet rattle of breath sounded, a sigh, and then silence. Alarm shot through Heddam. Someone was hurt. In several long strides he was at the bathroom door and placing his hand on the doorknob. “Whoever is in there, I’m not going to hurt you, all right? You sound hurt. I’m coming in.” “Go away.” The voice was definitely female. “This room is taken.” As though he was going to believe that. Swinging the door open, he walked in and then came to a complete stop, his shocked gaze taking in the scene before him. A wench was lying on the floor, her eyes open and staring sightlessly up at the wall. Blood was pooling under her and slipping down the drain in the floor beside her hip. Dressed in a plain gown that came down to her calves, her feet shod in flat slippers, she had several cuts and scrapes on her. And she was very dead. The wench crouched on the floor beside her had tears glittering in her eyes and a laser in her hands, the barrel pointed directly up at Heddam. A small pack was at her feet. Dressed similar to the dead wench, she had blood on the side of her gown but didn’t seem injured. But what struck Heddam the most was the tear-shaped topaz kyrat in each wench’s forehead. The topaz of the dead wench was dull, but the living wench’s was darkly bright. The second shock of the night was realizing that he was facing two Guardians, and outside the tavern were the Aora soldiers hunting them. Copyright: Angela Verdenius 2009 |
| Love Romances & More 2010 Golden Rose Award judge's comments & scores: ****** Enjoyed this one immensely. Made me want to pick up other books from her. – Score 52 I don’t usually care for Sci-Fi but this story was really good. I was drawn in and actually worried about Tasi and rooting for Heddam as he followed her and fought by her side. – Score 52 No Comments – Score 43 No Comments – Score 39 This one has it all. I must admit to being a huge fan of this author and I’ve collected all her prints so far and recommend them everywhere. She writes real character driven stories and doesn’t get into too much futuristic gobblygook that takes you out of the story. And there is lots of emotion, loads of sexual tension and a couple of really hot sex scenes….oh my!!! – Score 60 |

| Soul of a Guardian is a great story full of undiscovered worlds and adventure through space. Heddam is this giant of a man who wants only to protect Tasi, a woman who has a destiny that is unclear even to her. As the heroine, she is very strong, and I love how Ms. Verdenius has depicted her with an iron will that fights for the right of her planet even though there is danger wherever she turns. This is a truly great story that will pull the reader in quickly and hold on throughout the book. Danielle Coffee Time Romance & More |
